Accessory and clothing make up a large part of Western aesthetic. For decorative window treatments, use vintage-inspired laces dresses and set up silver and turquoise jewellery on a tray. This allows you to display your bijoux and makes it easy to find them when you're getting ready for the day. Vintage belts or hats can add layering to a mirror, chair, or even cowboy boots if they're arranged underneath a fireplace or window.

The second home for a couple based in L.A., this two-story penthouse in Seattle easily reflects their edgy tastes. In the entry hall, for example, 5-foot-long chainmaille chandeliers make quite the impact, while a photo set of Bob Marley offers a glimpse of the rare art that's featured across the home. Giving a 200-year-old home in historic Old Santa Fe, New Mexico, a clean, contemporary look — without sacrificing its authentic character — is a challenge the designers at Samuel Design don’t take lightly. To strike just the right note, they worked with a light touch, allowing the lines of the architecture to guide them, and keeping the color palette quiet, introducing a few high spots of warm color and rich texture through accessories and artwork.

One textile is often all you need to give your space that Wild West flair. Sarah Wittenbraker (owner and designer) kept her kitchen minimalistic and white. The exception was that bright, graphic rug. This kitchen and the living room renovation did not include any drywall. Instead, the finished ceilings of birch and the graphic walls provide organic warmth to the concrete floor and metal beams. This space represents a more modern, stripped-down version of Southwestern architecture. Vigas are wooden ceiling beams with traditional adobe architecture. They're an emblem of this sophisticated dining space. A large wood table, ten slipper-chairs, and a buffet serve as welcome items.
